
The Library has a valuable collection of books received by donation/ purchase of personal collections of elite and scholarly people. In addition, the library has acquire rare and unique collection of palm leaves, Mackenzie manuscripts, letters of C.P.Brown, microfilms of Telugu dailies (Krishna Patrika for 40 years1902-1942 and Andhra Patrika for 26 years 1914-1940. The library subscribes about 52 Periodicals and popular magazines ,16 news papers in Telugu and English from Indian publishers. Out of which, 58,996 Telugu 38,235 English and the remaining are nearly 5000 other Indian languages books are shelved The Library also prepared back volumes of journals as bounded volumes for the reference purpose. Keeping the University objectives in view, the Central Library has equipped with rich resources, comprising of about one lakh books. It is also unique that the Telugu University is the second of its kind in the country to promote the language and culture of Telugu people.Ĭollection : The Central Library caters to the needs of the academic and research community of the University as an information support system to meet its main objectives. The establishment of Telugu University, on December 2, 1985, is a historic event, which marks the realization of long cherished desire of the Telugu speaking people over decades by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Right from its inception, the University has two campus libraries one at Srisailam and the other at Rajahmundry and also a branch library at Lalithakala kshetram Nampally, Hyderabad. Located in a prime central place and housed in Telugu Bhavanam Complex at Osmania University Campus, Hyderabad, the Telugu University Library established in the year 1985, has been serving its readers for more than three decades.
